Sam is a native of Detroit, Michigan where he was born and raised to the late Garrett and Lillie Townsend, and he is the sixth of eight children. Sam completed the CPE Internship program in 2011, and in 2013 he enrolled in the CPE residency program which he completed in 2014. He served as a chaplain for Asbury Harris Epworth Towers and Branan Towers of Wesley Woods from 2014 to 2015. In 2015 to the present, Sam was appointed and proud to be serving as the senior pastor of Laster Chapel United Methodist Church located in College Park, Georgia. Sam is married Pamela Townsend and they have five children.
