Alyssa (pronounced “uh-LEE-suh”) R. Peterson-DeWitt is a Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) and a Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health Registered Clinician (CCSH-RC). She serves as the Lead Spiritual Health Clinician at Emory University Hospital Midtown, where she provides compassionate support to various care seekers in times of crisis, transition, and healing. In her leadership role, Alyssa oversees clinical care and staff care alongside a dedicated team of Spiritual Health Clinicians.

Alyssa entered chaplaincy during the COVID-19 pandemic, drawn to serve others in moments of uncertainty and change. She completed her Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) internship at Emory University Hospital, followed by her CPE residency, associate chaplaincy, and CCSH fellowship at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Grounded in the belief that every person reflects the Imago Dei—the image of the Divine—Alyssa’s approach to care is inclusive, contemplative, and relational. She is passionate about creating spaces for reflection, connection, and healing, and considers it a sacred privilege to journey with individuals through life’s most tender moments.

Alyssa earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries (with minors in Biblical Studies and Writing) and her Master of Divinity from Anderson University (Anderson, IN). She is an ordained minister in the Church of God (Anderson, IN) Wesleyan-Holiness movement. Prior to chaplaincy, Alyssa served as a non-profit executive administrative assistant and an array of church ministry roles.

Outside of work, Alyssa finds joy in spending time with her beloved husband and their five fur-children, exercising, paper crafting, playing video games, and tending to her ever-growing houseplant collection.
