Chaplain April Caffey was born and raised in the Chicagoland area before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. April has a profound passion for faith, family, and friends, which she considers to be the foundation of her existence. An ordained minister, April has devoted over 30 years to leadership and pastoral care roles. She earned a Master of Leadership, Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling, and a Master of Divinity degree before pursuing chaplaincy. She is a board-certified chaplain currently serving at Emory University Hospital since September 2021. Her work primarily involves providing compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, and staff on the oncology and chronic illness units.
Chaplain April is a self-proclaimed music connoisseur and an avid fan of the spy movie genre. She cherishes spending quality time with her family and friends and looks forward to moments spent near anybody of water. Her favorite activities include enjoying music, attending concerts and plays, traveling, indulging in fine dining, and engaging in meaningful conversations.
The greatest satisfaction of being a chaplain is knowing God is using me as a vessel while getting to know different staff, patients, and families. I consider it an honor, regardless of the circumstances, to love and serve others. As a renowned poet once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” There’s no greater gift than the gift of making someone feel genuinely loved and cared for; from this, compassion naturally flows. In essence, people are not only blessed by what you know but even more profoundly by knowing that you truly care.
