Rev. Karen Anderson was raised in Kansas City, MO. She is a classically trained musician, with a B.S. in Piano Performance and in Music Theory and Composition. After college Karen taught children's theatre and freelanced as a musician while being a full time caregiver for her mother during a cancer journey. Karen next moved to New Zealand to take a post as the Youth Coordinator for Taranaki Cathedral in New Plymouth, and a liason for the Taranaki Bishop's Action Foundation (BAF). She worked in rural farming communities as well as in the city of New Plymouth implementing outreach programming through both church and school systems.

Karen received her M.Div with a certificate in Episcopal and Anglican Studies from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. After graduation she worked as a Chaplain Resident at Northside Hospital Atlanta. Her experiences as a caregiver earlier in life meshed with a love of and for people to deepen her experiences as a chaplain.

Karen is a Candidate for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Church, Diocese of Atlanta. In her downtime she enjoys Zoom calls with international friends, baking, hiking, creating music and art, and a lot of reading.
