How we are unique

CBCT® (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training)

CBCT® (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training), a program developed at the Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University, is offered to residents, and CECs. It is a system of contemplative exercises designed to strengthen and sustain compassion.

CCSH (Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health)

CCSH™ (Compassion-Centered Spiritual Health) is a program to bolster the wellbeing, resilience, and compassion of healthcare patients and staff. CCSHTM augments spiritual health education and best practices with CBCT® (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training), a program developed at the Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics at Emory University. CCSHTM interventions are delivered by spiritual care professionals trained in both CBCT® and ACPE: The Standard in Spiritual Care and Education.

Research Literacy

The field of chaplaincy is moving toward evidence-based practice that is grounded in research so that we may share with each other the best ways of doing our work, be able to speak to our colleagues on the interdisciplinary team in a language they understand, and demonstrate our worth to the administrators who make decisions about funding spiritual health resources for our patients and staff. Both APC and ACPE now have requirements for research literacy, so our overall goal is to enable residents to become research-literate. That is, we want to equip residents to become competent consumers of research.
